Job Purpose:
The Physician Assistant (PA) provides high-quality, culturally respectful primary care services to patients across the lifespan. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the PA supports the clinic’s mission to improve health outcomes for the Sycuan Tribe and our community through accessible, holistic, and coordinated care.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:

- Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations and develop treatment plans
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions across all age groups
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, labs, and imaging
- Prescribe medications and coordinate specialty referrals
- Document all patient encounters in the EHR in compliance with clinic protocols
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, behavioral health, and care coordinators
- Participate in quality improvement, policy development, and peer review
- Provide patient education and preventive care guidance
- Support integrated care efforts and warm handoffs
- Maintain compliance with Tribal, state, and federal regulations
Job Specifications:
Education and Experience:
Essential:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current PA-C certification and unrestricted state license
- DEA registration and BLS/ACLS certification
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience preferred
Desirable:
- Experience in Tribal health, FQHC, or rural primary care settings
Skills and Knowledge:
Essential:
- Familiarity with EHR systems (e.g., NextGen) and UDS reporting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving clinic needs and patient volumes
- Ability to research and analyze data to make sound judgements
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism and composure (e.g. HIPAA)
- Ability to sit, stand, and perform essential duties of the position
- Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting of up to 25 pounds
